2012 Week 17 NFL picks

There are only 16 games left to be played in 2012 regular season. In Week 17, all 16 games will be divisional battles as has been the case since 2010 season. In the AFC all 6 playoff teams are locked and for the first time ever any conference repeated all 4 division winners from previous season (New England, Baltimore, Houston, Denver). In the NFC there are still 2 playoff spots left and 2 divisions up for grabs, NFC East and NFC West, Green Bay clinched NFC North and Atlanta clinched NFC South weeks ago. As usual I’ll try to pick winners in the NFL, here’s the way I see it how AFC and NFC playoff picture should look like after final week in the NFL,

W17 playoff picture

and here are my picks for all games in the final Week 17:

11Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Falcons have already clinched No.1 seed in the NFC playoffs but don’t plan to rest their starters against the Buccaneers this week. The Bucs have lost the last 5 games and will finish another season with a losing record no matter what they do in the final game. Falcons win and finish the season with 14-2 record.
Pick: Falcons 28-22, Result: Buccaneers 22-17
Against The Spread: Falcons (-3.5)

12New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Before the season started, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills were among teams that could make the playoffs. Obviously, both teams have disappointed big time and will finish with losing records. The Bills are at home, that’s way I’m going with them in this game.
Pick: Bills 24-17, Result: Bills 28-9
Against The Spread: Bills (-3.5)

7Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Ravens are coming off an impressive win against the Giants last week and could still move up to No.3 seed in the AFC playoffs. The Bengals on other hand can’t move up from 6th seed even if they beat the Ravens this week. I still think the Bengals will be motivated enough and win their final home game.
Pick: Bengals 23-20, Result: Bengals 23-17
Against The Spread: Bengals (-2.5)

6Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). WR Calvin Johnson got the record last week and will look to surpass the 2000 receiving yards mark with another big game this week. He will have to do it against the Bears who are playing great defense yet again. The Bears have a lot to play for and will come out of this game victorious.
Pick: Bears 26-23, Result: Bears 26-24
Against The Spread: Lions (+3.5)

9Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Titans were embarrassed last week in a 55-7 loss to the Packers, the Jaguars on the other hand played good game against the Patriots. I have no idea how both teams will respond after Week 16 losses, that’s why I’m going with a home team again.
Pick: Titans 20-17, Result: Titans 38-20
Against The Spread: Jaguars (+4.5)

8Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). This will be another emotional game for the Colts as their coach returns on the sideline for the final regular season game but I think the Texans are much better team and will look to lock the No.1 seed.
Pick: Texans 27-20, Result: Colts 28-16
Against The Spread: Texans (-3.5)

2Carolina Panthers @ New Orleans Saints, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Panthers have won the last 3 games and will look to end the season with another win against the Saints. I anticipate high-scoring game in which Carolina scores enough points to beat New Orleans.
Pick: Panthers 34-30, Result: Panthers 44-38
Against The Spread: Panthers (+4.5)

5Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Giants have to win this one to have any chances to make the playoffs. They probably will beat the Eagles who will start Michael Vick at quarterback, the question is, will it be enough to get them into the playoffs.
Pick: Giants 24-21, Result: Giants 42-7
Against The Spread: Eagles (+7.5)

3Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). With a loss last week against the Bengals the Steelers put to rest any hopes to make the playoffs this season. But I think they will want to end the season with a win at home against the Browns.
Pick: Steelers 24-16, Result: Steelers 24-10
Against The Spread: Steelers (-6.5)

1Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). Anything but Broncos’ win in this one would be a major shock. Denver has to win to secure first-round bye and I really don’t see any chances for the Chiefs to spoil Denver’s plans. The Broncos will jump to an early lead and control the game the rest of the way.
Pick: Broncos 30-17, Result: Broncos 38-3
Against The Spread: Chiefs (+15.5)

10Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). This is a chance for the Vikings to get into playoffs with a win against the Packers. Not am easy task as the Packers seem to be peaking at the right time. Green Bay must win to get first-round bye and I think they will.
Pick: Packers 31-20, Result: Vikings 37-34
Against The Spread: Packers (-3.5)

4Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). The Patriots almost lost to the 2-13 Jaguars last week. Now they are back at home to face the Dolphins who will be looking to steal one away from New England. In the end I think the Patriots will do enough to win and finish with 12-4 record.
Pick: Patriots 30-21, Result: Patriots 28-0
Against The Spread: Dolphins (+10.5)

13Oakland Raiders @ San Diego Chargers, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). Hopefully for Chargers fans this is the last game for Norv Turner as head coach of San Diego Chargers. In a game that means nothing to both teams I’ll go with a home team yet again.
Pick: Chargers 23-15, Result: Chargers 24-21
Against The Spread: Chargers (-4.5)

14Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). The last couple of weeks were as brutal as it gets for San Francisco 49ers. Playing at New England and at Seattle this late in the season would be tough for any team in the NFL. The 49ers now have to beat the Cardinals to win NFC West division and I think they will.
Pick: 49ers 26-17, Result: 49ers 27-13
Against The Spread: Cardinals (+14.5)

15St. Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). Right now the Seahawks look like the best team in the NFC, by far. They secured at least No.5 seed in the NFC playoffs, no matter the result of this game against the Rams. Seattle will try to end the season on high note and finish the season 8-0 at home.
Pick: Seahawks 30-16, Result: Seahawks 20-17
Against The Spread: Seahawks (-10.5)

16Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins, Sunday 8:20 PM (ET). The NFL moved this game to primetime and rightfully so. The winner gets the NFC East title and No.4 seed in the NFC playoffs. The Redskins could still sneak in even if they lose to the Cowboys but I think with RGIII back in the lineup the Redskins will do enough with their ground attack to beat the Cowboys.
Pick: Redskins 27-24, Result: Redskins 28-18
Against The Spread: Cowboys (+3.5)

Week 16 record straight-up: 12-4
Week 17: 13-3
Season: 167-88-1, 65.4%

Week 16 record Against The Spread: 10-6
Week 17: 6-10
Season: 132-124, 51.6%

2012 Week 16 NFL picks

The domination by National Football Conference over American Football Conference continued last week as NFC teams won 5 out of 6 interconference games. NFC teams now hold 36-24 record which means they’ve clinched winning record for second consecutive season – something that hasn’t happened since 1994 & 1995 season. In Week 16 we’ll see the last 4 interconference games (Titans @ Packers, Raiders @ Panthers, Vikings @ Texans and the most interesting of them all, Giants @ Ravens) and 4 games between division rivals, probably non bigger than the one in Seattle between Seahawks and 49ers. Week 16 will start with Saturday edition of MNF with a game between Falcons and Lions, here are my picks for all Week 16 games:

1Atlanta Falcons @ Detroit Lions, Saturday 8:20 PM (ET). The last in the series of Monday Night Football games is going to be played on Saturday Night. Atlanta still has a lot to play, with a win they would clinch home-field advantage throughout NFC playoffs. Detroit on the other hand is out of the playoffs and would like this season to end as quickly as possible.
Pick: Falcons 30-24, Result: Falcons 31-18
Against The Spread: Falcons (-3.5)

7New Orleans Saints @ Dallas Cowboys, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Cowboys have won their last 3 games with a combined margin of just 10 points. Lately they’ve found a way to win close games and QB Tony Romo leads the NFL with most 4th quarter comeback wins. I expect a close game against the Saints and it will be another chance for QB Tony Romo to lead his team to a victory.
Pick: Cowboys 28-27, Result: Saints 34-31 (OT)
Against The Spread: Saints (+3.5)

3Tennessee Titans @ Green Bay Packers, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Packers already clinched NFC North division but would like to avoid Wild Card playoff round. They have to keep on winning and I’d be surprised if the Titans can compete with Green Bay on short week. Green Bay wins this one comfortably.
Pick: Packers 31-17, Result: Packers 55-7
Against The Spread: Packers (-12.5)

11Indianapolis Colts @ Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Last season the Colts finished last in AFC South division with a 2-14 record. This week the Colts have a chance to get their 10th win of the season and a chance to secure themselves a playoff spot. Indianapolis doesn’t play good defense but with a game against the Chiefs coming up their defense might look pretty good.
Pick: Colts 23-16, Result: Colts 20-13
Against The Spread: Colts (-6.5)

9Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). This game could be similar to the one this two teams played Week 11 in Buffalo. Low-scoring game with a home team edging out the visitors. If the Dolphins win, it will be their 7th win, before the start of the season, 7 wins for Miami would sound more like science fiction.
Pick: Dolphins 24-20, Result: Dolphins 24-10
Against The Spread: Bills (+4.5)

6San Diego Chargers @ New York Jets, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Jets’ coaching stuff made the decision they probably should’ve made long before. QB Greg McElroy will start his first NFL game against the Chargers this week. Hopefully for the Jets, he can make fewer mistakes than QB Mark Sanchez made last week which could result in a win for New York.
Pick: Jets 20-19, Result: Chargers 27-17
Against The Spread: Chargers (+2.5)

5Washington Redskins @ Philadelphia Eagles, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). After 3-6 record the Redskins won 5 straight and are now on top of NFC East division. Looks like QB RGIII will be cleared to play Sunday, even without him I think the Redskins are a better team right now.
Pick: Redskins 29-23, Result: Redskins 27-20
Against The Spread: Redskins (-4.5)

4Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). It’s time for the Bengals to prove that they can win a big game. With a win Bengals can achieve 2 things, first they can clinch playoff spot and second they can eliminate the Steelers from the playoffs. The Steelers have been inconsistent all season and I don’t think they will be able to put that inconsistency to rest against the Bengals.
Pick: Bengals 23-20, Result: Bengals 13-10
Against The Spread: Bengals (+4.5)

2St. Louis Rams @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Last week the Buccaneers didn’t play well on both sides of the ball, I expect them to bounce back on offense but it will be the defense that will let them down yet again. Rams should be able to exploit that pass defense and climb back to 0.500.
Pick: Rams 28-23, Result: Rams 28-13
Against The Spread: Rams (+3.5)

8Oakland Raiders @ Carolina Panthers, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Carolina Panthers will be looking for another late season win, this time against the Raiders. Second year QB Cam Newton has been playing great lately and his team shouldn’t have problems with Oakland Raiders who have to travel cross-country for 5th and final time this season.
Pick: Panthers 28-21, Result: Panthers 17-6
Against The Spread: Raiders (+8.5)

12New England Patriots @ Jacksonville Jaguars, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). You got to feel sorry for the Jaguars. The Patriots are an angry team right now and will take it out on the Jaguars. QB Tom Brady will have a big day and the Patriots will win big and advance to 11-4.
Pick: Patriots 37-17, Result: Patriots 23-16
Against The Spread: Patriots (-14.5)

10Minnesota Vikings @ Houston Texans, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Vikings have a tough task ahead, to extend their playoff hopes they need to win on the road against the Texans who will be looking to lock No.1 seed. Earlier this season we saw Packers and Patriots rip apart Texans’ defense through the air. The Vikings don’t have that type of offense, result Texans win.
Pick: Texans 26-19, Result: Vikings 23-6
Against The Spread: Vikings (+7.5)

13Cleveland Browns @ Denver Broncos, Sunday 4:05 PM (ET). With wins in the last two games the Broncos can secure first-round bye in the playoffs. I expect another win from the Broncos this time playing against the Browns. Cleveland will try to upset Manning and company, but unfortunately for Browns fans, it won’t happen.
Pick: Broncos 27-17, Result: Broncos 34-12
Against The Spread: Browns (+13.5)

14Chicago Bears @ Arizona Cardinals, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). With a win against the Titans in Week 9 the Bears advanced to 7-1 and looked very much in control of NFC North division. But since then, the Bears lost 5 of 6 games and once again lost the division. What’s left for the Bears is a fight for playoff spot. First, they have to beat the Cardinals, I think they will and move to 9-6.
Pick: Bears 21-16, Result: Bears 28-13
Against The Spread: Cardinals (+5.5)

15New York Giants @ Baltimore Ravens, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). Last year the Giants were 7-7 and had to win last 2 games to make the playoffs, this year they are 8-6 and are again in a must-win situation. It is well-known fact that Baltimore’s QB Joe Flacco plays a lot worse when playing on the road but lately, he hasn’t played good even at home, that fact alone makes me wonder if the Ravens can beat the Giants this Sunday.
Pick: Giants 26-23, Result: Ravens 33-14
Against The Spread: Giants (-2.5)

16San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks, Sunday 8:20 PM (ET). Week 16 will end with a big game between two NFC West teams, it will be big especially for the Seahawks who can clinch playoff spot with a win at home. This season Seattle is 6-0 when playing in front of home crowd. I think Seahawks win and stay undefeated in Seattle.
Pick: Seahawks 27-24, Result: Seahawks 42-13
Against The Spread: Seahawks (+1.5)

Week 15 record straight-up: 10-6
Overall: 142-81-1

Against The Spread: 9-7
Overall: 116-108

2012 Week 15 NFL picks

With only 3 weeks left in regular season we are getting closer to this year’s postseason. With 6 games on the schedule between teams with winning record it should be an exciting week of pro football. Week 15 will start with the last in the series of TNF games. So far home teams hold 8-5 record and 33-17 since NFL Network started broadcasting Thursday Night Football games in 2006, here’s my pick for TNF game:

1Cincinnati Bengals @ Philadelphia Eagles, Thursday 8:20 PM (ET). The last time this 2 teams played they finished the game in a tie. The Bengals are coming off a devastating loss to the Cowboys and now have to face the Eagles who will try to spoil Bengals’ chances to make the playoffs. I might regret this but this time I’m going to shy away from a ‘home-team-short-week’ theme and pick the Bengals to win on the road.
Pick: Bengals 24-21, Result: Bengals 34-13
Against The Spread: Eagles (+3.5)

5New York Giants @ Atlanta Falcons, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Here’s a chance for the Falcons to define their season and present themselves to the rest of the NFL as a true Super Bowl contender. The Giants beat the Falcons 24-2 in last season’s divisional playoffs, but this time I think the Falcons will score on offense, something they haven’t been able to do in the already mentioned playoff game.
Pick: Falcons 27-26, Result: Falcons 34-0
Against The Spread: Giants (+1.5)

2Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). QB Jay Cutler has been with the Bears since 2009 and he hasn’t been successful in games against the Packers to say the least. In Week 2 of this season he posted a dismal 28.2 passer rating, the Packers are getting healthier on defense and there’s a chance LB Clay Matthews will play this week. Not good news for Bears’ O-line and QB Jay Cutler. Packers will win and clinch NFC North division.
Pick: Packers 23-17, Result: Packers 21-13
Against The Spread: Packers (-2.5)

9Washington Redskins @ Cleveland Browns, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). A chance for the Browns to win 4th straight, the last time they’ve managed to do so was at the end of 2009 season when they finished 5-11 after 1-11 start to the season. The Redskins are 7-6, have won 4 straight and are in the hunt to make the playoffs. No matter who plays at quarterback for Redskins, I think they have a chance to win against Cleveland.
Pick: Redskins 24-20, Result: Redskins 38-21
Against The Spread: Redskins (+2.5)

3Minnesota Vikings @ St. Louis Rams, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Rams are another team who’ve won the last 3 games with a chance to make it 4 straight. Unlike the Browns, the Rams have a lot more to play for. Playing against Minnesota who is also in the playoff mix will be tough, but the Rams are at home and have been playing great defense lately, Rams win.
Pick: Rams 23-21, Result: Vikings 36-22
Against The Spread: Vikings (+2.5)

8Jacksonville Jaguars @ Miami Dolphins, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Dolphins are back home to play another Florida based team, the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars showed some signs of improvement before they played to their 2012 standard again last few weeks. Dolphins aren’t officially out of the playoffs and will want to win this one in front of the home crowd.
Pick: Dolphins 26-16, Result: Dolphins 24-3
Against The Spread: Dolphins (-7.5)

6Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). After a few good games Saints’ defense fell apart last week against the Giants. The Buccaneers have weapons to attack the Saints on the ground and through the air and I don’t think mistake prone Saints can win it this time.
Pick: Buccaneers 30-27, Result: Saints 41-0
Against The Spread: Buccaneers (+3.5)

4Denver Broncos @ Baltimore Ravens, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). This is a game between two division leaders. Broncos already clinched their division but will be playing for better seeding. The Ravens will be a good test for the Broncos but I think QB Joe Flacco, who plays much better at home, will have problems with Denver’s pass rush. Ravens lose and drop to 9-5.
Pick: Broncos 27-24, Result: Broncos 34-17
Against The Spread: Broncos (-2.5)

7Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). I bet the Texans can’t wait to get on the field after embarrassing loss to the Patriots on Monday Night. With a win against the Colts Houston can clinch AFC South division. I think they’ll do so pretty comfortably.
Pick: Texans 34-20, Result: Texans 29-17
Against The Spread: Texans (-7.5)

12Seattle Seahawks @ Buffalo Bills, Sunday 4:05 PM (ET). The game will be played in Toronto which kind of takes away home-field advantage from the Bills, still it will be a long trip for the Seahawks. With a win against Chicago the Seahawks proved that they can win on the road and they should have no problems winning against the Bills.
Pick: Seahawks 27-13, Result: Seahawks 50-17
Against The Spread: Seahawks (-5.5)

10Detroit Lions @ Arizona Cardinals, Sunday 4:05 PM (ET). You can’t expect from Arizona to surrender 50+ points again but the Cardinals do have some serious problems. They can’t score and the Lions shouldn’t have problems to score enough to win this game.
Pick: Lions 24-16, Result: Cardinals 38-10
Against The Spread: Lions (-5.5)

11Carolina Panthers @ San Diego Chargers, Sunday 4:05 PM (ET). I think the Chargers’ win last week against the Steelers doesn’t really show the true value of this team. The Panthers will take advantage of their inconsistency and despite of their good defense the Chargers will fail to score enough points to win against the Panthers.
Pick: Panthers 20-17, Result: Panthers 31-7
Against The Spread: Panthers (+2.5)

13Pittsburgh Steelers @ Dallas Cowboys, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). Pittsburgh is another team hungry to play this week after a disappointing loss last week. In the past the Steelers showed they can overcome all the distractions surrounding the team and this will be a perfect spot to do it again. Cowboys are fighting for playoff spot too but will have too little to beat the Steelers.
Pick: Steelers 24-19, Result: Cowboys 27-24 (OT)
Against The Spread: Steelers (-1.5)

14Kansas City Chiefs @ Oakland Raiders, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). Rivalry matchup between 2-11 Chiefs and 3-10 Raiders. Well, it will be more of a ‘battle’ for higher draft pick. When in doubt, go with a home team, Raiders win and advance to 4-10.
Pick: Raiders 23-20, Result: Raiders 15-0
Against The Spread: Raiders (-2.5)

15San Francisco 49ers @ New England Patriots, Sunday 8:20 PM (ET). I attended the game played at Candlestick 4 years ago. Back then the Patriots visited San Francisco with QB Matt Cassel and beat the 49ers 31-20. A lot has changed since then, but with QB Tom Brady playing at home I think he and his offense will find ways to score points against otherwise stout 49ers’ defense.
Pick: Patriots 31-24, Result: 49ers 41-34
Against The Spread: Patriots (-5.5)

16New York Jets @ Tennessee Titans, Monday 8:30 PM (ET). It’s hard to believe the Jets still have hope to make the playoffs so late in the season after all we’ve seen from them this year. Could be they’ll extend their playoff hopes with a win against the Titans on Monday Night.
Pick: Jets 20-17, Result: Titans 14-10
Against The Spread: Jets (+1.5)

Week 14 record straight-up: 10-6
Overall: 132-75-1

Against The Spread: 6-10
Overall: 107-101

2012 Quality Standings – Week 14

Quality Standings are standings based on games teams played only against opponents with winning record. I first looked at those standings after Week 11 and have now updated the standings through Week 14 in the NFL. At this point in the season we have 16 teams with winning records, 9 in the NFC and 7 in the AFC. Here’s a list of those 16 teams currently holding a winning record,

Houston Texans (11-2), Atlanta Falcons (11-2), New England Patriots (10-3), Denver Broncos (10-3), San Francisco 49ers (9-3-1), Green Bay Packers (9-4), Baltimore Ravens (9-4), Indianapolis Colts (9-4), Seattle Seahawks (8-5), New York Giants (8-5), Chicago Bears (8-5), Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6), Washington Redskins (7-6), Cincinnati Bengals (7-6), Dallas Cowboys (7-6), Minnesota Vikings (7-6),

and the table with Quality Standings sorted by conference and winning record:

2012 quality standings - W14

A few observations from the Quality Standings above:

– Buffalo and Kansas City are the only 2 teams without a win against teams with winning record
– Seattle has the most wins against ‘quality’ teams (5)
– Atlanta has the best record (3-0), but they’ve also played the fewest games against ‘quality’ teams (3)
– Detroit has played the most games against teams with winning record (9).

2012 Week 14 NFL picks

Already Week 14 coming up with additional 4 interconference and 6 divisional games on the schedule. Games within division are always tough to predict, but hopefully I’ll do a lot better than last week when I came away with a dismal 7-9 record. Week 14 will start with one of those division battles on Thursday Night, a game between Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders, here’s my pick for TNF game:

1Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders, Thursday 8:20 PM (ET). The Broncos clinched AFC West division title with 7th straight win and will try to extend their winning streak on Thursday Night against the Raiders. Denver is a much better team on both sides of the ball and should get a win. Expect extra effort from the Raiders playing against division rival, but that little extra won’t be enough.
Pick: Broncos 27-17, Result: Broncos 26-13
Against The Spread: Raiders (+10.5)

8St. Louis Rams @ Buffalo Bills, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Rams upset the 49ers last week with an overtime win at home. They played great at home, especially on defense, all season long and maybe it’s time for the Rams to produce also on the road. The Bills will be a tough opponent for the Rams, but I think the Rams will extend their winning streak.
Pick: Rams 24-21, Result: Rams 15-12
Against The Spread: Rams (+3.5)

4Dallas Cowboys @ Cincinnati Bengals, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Both teams are well in the hunt for this season’s playoffs which makes this a big interconference game. The Cowboys are on the road for this one so the Bengals should have an advantage. Tough one to predict, could go either way, decided to go with the home team.
Pick: Bengals 23-20, Result: Cowboys 20-19
Against The Spread: Cowboys (+3.5)

9Kansas City Chiefs @ Cleveland Browns, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Chiefs managed to win last week after all what happened outside the football field. The Browns are playing at home and playing good enough defense to stop the Chiefs. Going with the home team again in a ‘Brady Quinn Bowl’.
Pick: Browns 17-14, Result: Browns 30-7
Against The Spread: Chiefs (+5.5)

2Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Colts are having the type of season the Bengals had last year. They are in position to make the playoffs and that won’t change after the game against the Titans.
Pick: Colts 28-24, Result: Colts 27-23
Against The Spread: Titans (+5.5)

7Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Bears already beat the Vikings in Week 12. I expect much closer game this time. RB Adrian Peterson is Vikings’ biggest offensive weapon but against the Bears, Vikings will need QB Christian Ponder to lead his team to victory. Easier said than done, Bears will win again thanks to superior defense and special teams unit.
Pick: Bears 26-21, Result: Vikings 21-14
Against The Spread: Bears (-2.5)

6San Diego Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Looks like Norv Turner era in San Diego is about to end, finally. The Chargers have 4 games left to make the most out of the otherwise forgettable season. It will be difficult to get a win this week against the Steelers who will have QB Ben Roethlisberger back in the lineup.
Pick: Steelers 23-16, Result: Chargers 34-24
Against The Spread: Steelers (-6.5)

11Philadelphia Eagles @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). This could be a high-scoring game, the Eagles have been a joke on defense but have been able to put some points on the board lately. The Buccaneers still have a chance to make the playoffs and they’ll want to win this game more than the Eagles who probably wish this season could end as quickly as possible.
Pick: Buccaneers 31-27, Result: Eagles 23-21
Against The Spread: Eagles (+7.5)

5Baltimore Ravens @ Washington Redskins, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). This is another big interconference game. Both teams have been battle tested this season with plenty of games played against teams with winning record. I had hard time to decide who should I pick, somehow I think the Ravens will come up with a right plan to defend Redskins’ multiple run formations.
Pick: Ravens 21-20, Result: Redskins 31-28 (OT)
Against The Spread: Ravens (+0.5)

10Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). The Falcons have already clinched NFC South division and will be looking to secure home-field advantage throughout NFC playoffs in the coming weeks. Carolina will try to be only the second team this season to beat Atlanta but it won’t happen, Atlanta wins and advances to 12-1.
Pick: Falcons 30-24, Result: Panthers 30-20
Against The Spread: Falcons (-3.5)

3New York Jets @ Jacksonville Jaguars, Sunday 1:00 PM (ET). Jets’ head coach Rex Ryan decided to go back with Mark Sanchez at quarterback which could be good news for the Jaguars. The thing is, Jaguars have plenty of problems of their own that’s why I predict Jets win in another low-scoring game.
Pick: Jets 19-17, Result: Jets 17-10
Against The Spread: Jaguars (+2.5)

12Miami Dolphins @ San Francisco 49ers, Sunday 4:05 PM (ET). Long trip for the Dolphins to take on the 49ers in what is expected to be low-scoring game. For the 49ers it will be 3rd straight game with Colin Kaepernick as starting quarterback. Kaepernick made some costly mistakes last week against the Rams, the Dolphins on other hand will have rookie offensive lineman in the starting lineup. Home team gets an important win at home.
Pick: 49ers 24-20, Result: 49ers 27-13
Against The Spread: Dolphins (+10.5)

13New Orleans Saints @ New York Giants, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). Next for the Giants are the Saints with QB Drew Brees who hasn’t lost to the Giants in his career. With Brees, the Saints are 3-0 when playing against the Giants with an average of 42.3 points scored per game. The Saints improved on defense but they’ve been regressing on offense so don’t expect them to score 40 on the Giants this time around. This game won’t be played indoors so I’ll give the edge to the home team, Giants win and advance to 8-5.
Pick: Giants 27-23, Result: Giants 52-27
Against The Spread:  Saints (+5.5)

14Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks, Sunday 4:25 PM (ET). No matter who plays quarterback for the Cardinals they don’t stand a chance against the Seahawks who are back home after a huge overtime win against the Bears. This will be 9th straight loss for the Cardinals after a promising 4-0 start.
Pick: Seahawks 23-10, Result: Seahawks 58-0
Against The Spread: Seahawks (-10.5)

15Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers, Sunday 8:20 PM (ET). Both teams have a long list of injured players going into this game. Especially Packers seem to have problems with injuries all season. The 4-8 Lions are out of the playoff race compared to 8-4 Packers who are in the race with Chicago for NFC North division title. Packers win.
Pick: Packers 28-21, Result: Packers 27-20
Against The Spread: Packers (-6.5)

16Houston Texans @ New England Patriots, Monday 8:30 PM (ET). Are you ready for some football? Hopefully this game lives up to the hype as 2 AFC teams battle for home-field advantage in the playoffs. Even without TE Rob Gronkowski, QB Tom Brady has lots of weapons and with solid O-line I think he will have enough time to eventually beat the Texans.
Pick: Patriots 30-27, Result: Patriots 42-14
Against The Spread: Texans (+4.5)

Week 13 record straight-up: 7-9
Overall: 122-69-1

Against The Spread: 8-8
Overall: 101-91
